The Goodreads Book Tag!

Goodreads. The Facebook of the book world, really. I adore Goodreads. I have found so many interesting books on there, it has worked as a bookmark when I had none, and has kept me entertained for longer than it probably should.
PSA: never read the one-star reviews for your favourite book because even though we all agree everyone has an opinion, you will come to the conclusion they are being wholly unfair and need to re-read it because how could someone not love this book?

Anyway, I found this tag over on One Bookish Girl’s page and it sounded very interesting because as a reader, Goodreads is very important and as I do tag posts most Mondays (although not every Monday, I’ll run out) I thought I’d give it a go. Here are my answers!

  1. What was the last book you marked as read?
One the Other Side by Carrie Hope Fletcher!
  2. What are you currently reading?
    Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare!
  3. What was the last book you marked ‘To Be Read’?
    Caraval by Stephanie Garbar
  4. What book do you plan to read next?
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare or The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh
  5. Do you use the star rating system?
I do, but I think it needs .5 ratings to make life easier
  6. Are you doing a 2016 Reading challenge?
I sure am! I want to read 35 books this year and I’ve read 25 already.
  7. Do you have a wish list?
Yes but it isn’t on Goodreads. I should make one, though, it would be helpful!
  8. What book do you plan to buy next?
I’m on a book buying ban until Christmas! But my next book will probably be Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige or Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter.
  9. What’s your favorite quote?
“With the right reasons, at the right moment, even the most beaten and broken of people could rise up and reclaim themselves.”  ~ Samantha Shannon, The Mime Order.
  10. Who are your favorite authors?
Samantha Shannon, Sarah J Maas, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Alwyn Hamilton, Renee Ahdieh, J.K. Rowling.
  11. Are you a part of any Goodreads group?
Sure am! I’m in the Fairyloot Book Club, the Aussie Readers, and Queen Maas’ Assassins.
  12. What could Goodreads do better?
.5 ratings. I sometimes want to give something a 4.5 or a 3.5 and I can’t! I think that would make the site loads better otherwise, I like it just the way it is.

Give me opinions! What do you honestly think of Goodreads? Do you use it? I have a lot of feelings about Goodreads but this isn’t the place to talk about all of my issues, I’ll get to those in another post.

.5 stars would be really helpful sometimes!
Have you managed to get an ARC/e-ARC of Caraval?
On NetGalley the Aus version is available for request through Hachette Aus 🙂

  2. I definitely agree with adding a .5 star!! Also fixing their app! When I put in books that I’ve read it doesn’t mark it properly (like date etc.) ;-;

    1. And the search bar is weird! You can type in half the title and still not get what you’re looking for
